Production

Production for the album began almost immediately after the end of the Eisbrecher Tour.

The album took 2.5 years to create due to the added mission of searching for a new record label after the band was dropped by their former label ZYX Records due to a shift in the company's goals. The band would have to search with a 6 track demo to attract a new label in late 2005/early 2006. The band officially signed with AFM Records in May 2006.

The album and subsequent tour were originally planned for August/September of 2006. It was unknown when plans changed but with the reveal of the October release date for the album, the tour would not happen until May 2007.

The title track of the album, Antikörper, was inspired by the poster for the 2005 movie of the same name . Alex was inspired by the title and its interpretations, Alexander Wesselsky however, as of the album release, had not yet watched the movie.

Promotion

The first known mention of work being done was in June 2004 in an interview with Radio Goethe , where Alex mentioned that Noel Pix had already come up with some ideas for the next album and is already working on it.

On 4 January 2005, on the official Eisbrecher forums , Felix Homeier stated that some songs had already been written and that more was to come, with studio sessions starting up again "soon".

On 3 March 2005, on the official Eisbrecher forums , Alex mentioned that work was continuing on music and is more rock focused than the previous album.

On 29 August 2005, in a post to the official Eisbrecher website it was stated that the 19 August 2005 concert in Munich was the official end to "Eisbrecher Phase 1", the post also mentioned that the concert was recorded.

On 13 March 2006, a post was made to the official Eisbrecher website officially announcing the Leider single. However, the post could not be seen by people on the site until July 2006. This was likely an accidental post that was hidden until a certain amount of time had passed, as the body of text seemed to be prematurely cut off.

On 18 May 2006, the official press release on the signing of Eisbrecher to AFM Records was published, announcing the 2 upcoming singles and the release date of the album for 6 October 2006.

On 28 June 2006, through the official Eisbrecher website , the press release information was posted alongside the first confirmation of the album title, "Antikörper".

On 7 July 2006, a snippet of the track Eiskalt erwischt was uploaded to the official Eisbrecher media tab on the official Eisbrecher website. The snippet was not mentioned in any news post.

On 25 August 2006, a delay to the release date was announced on the official Eisbrecher website . The new release date would be 2 weeks later, 20 October 2006.

On 12 October 2006, 3 guitar heavy tracks had snippets posted to the official Eisbrecher media tab. These 3 track snippets were for Phosphor, Kein Mitleid, and Freisturz.

Unreleased creations

In the April edition of Rockhard magazine, Nuclear Blast advertised, among other releases, a single for Ohne dich to be released on 23 March 2007. One of the old Eisbrecher forum moderators, "Windkind", also suggested that the Antikörper Tour dates went through a minor delay, which could have explained the delay if it was supposed to accompany the tour. However, the single, and its contents, would never be released.

In April 2006, Dancing Ferret Discs announced an upcoming compilation featuring a "not yet released Eisbrecher track". In May of 2006, the information on the CD removed any mention of an Eisbrecher track on the CD. Alex commented on the official Eisbrecher forum that nothing will be released until the first single for the album. It is not known what track would have been placed on to the compilation.

Demo and unreleased song

On 14 October 2005, the band announced through the official Eisbrecher website , the creation of the first demo for Antikörper which contained 6 tracks. 4 tracks were listed, and 3 of the 4 tracks would find their way on the album; Antikörper, Kein Mitleid, and Eiskalt erwischt. However, the 4th track, Entfreit, would not be found. It is unknown if the track evolved into something that would appear on the album, or if it was completely shelved.

In an interview with Rock.de in 2018. Alex would mention the existence of a 6-track demo for Antikörper once more. However, this time he listed all 6 tracks on the demo tape. The full list of songs would be; Leider, Antikörper, Ohne dich, Phosphor, Kein Mitleid, Wie tief. Due to the exclusion of Eiskalt erwischt, it is likely that the list given to Rock.de was a later demo tape, as Noel Pix was said to not be a fan of the song, hence its placement as the limited edition bonus track. It is, again, unknown if the track evolved into one of the tracks on this later demo tape, or if it was shelved prior.

Other songs

In late 2004, the band released a video of Noel Pix recording a song to their old media page on their website, titled "New_song". The song snippet would not be used in a future release and it is not known if it was developed to become a different song on the album, leaving it unreleased.

In the first official announcement of the Leider single by AFM Records, the tracklist for the single was listed as being the same as the final release except for 1 track. Instead of the "Noel Pix Klingenklang Remix", it was a remix by Norwegian metal artist Gothminister . The track was changed with no mention and the remix was never released.
