Liebe Macht Monster is the 8th studio album by Eisbrecher. It was released on 12 March 2021.
Album chronology
Information
The title "Liebe Macht Monster" had been around 6-7 years before it only really fit for this release.
Production
The first 4 tracks created for the album were Leiserdrehen, Systemsprenger, Wer bin ich, and Es lohnt sich nicht ein Mensch zu sein.
In an interview with Deadline Magazine, Alexander Wesselsky stated that "Noel Pix wanted to ignore all the established sounds for the new album. That is, take away all the presets, bring in more analogue, new drums, new bass. He wanted to do something different and set up the production technique in a new way". This would lead to Alex wondering if he was being left behind, if this was even Eisbrecher anymore, and if he was comfortable with a new direction. But in the end, it came to fit like a comfortable shoe.
During Autumn 2019, Rupert Keplinger met up with Dero Goi to work on some tracks together for a project. During this time, Dero presented Rupert with some lyrics for a track that Rupert enjoyed and a recording of Dero singing was sent to Alex who enjoyed the lyrics a lot. Rupert threw together an instrumental and the track was built up from there, finally reaching Pix once a demo was created. This track became Dagegen. A reversal of the typical Eisbrecher method of instrumental followed by lyrics.
The album was finalised in March of 2020 with a planned release date of October 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the band decided that it would be best to release the album at a more secure time for a tour to follow. This in turn rushed the creation of Schicksalsmelodien which would have originally come after, giving Noel 2-3 weeks rest before starting production. Mixing and mastering of Liebe Macht Monster would resume after the release of Schicksalsmelodien.
