The release was recorded live on 3 June 2015.

Eisbrecher have previously planned live releases before Schock Live, the biggest of which being a full recording of the 19 August 2005 Theatron concert. The DVD reached its final stages of production but has since been unreleased.

Other live releases from the band up to this point were only included in the special editions of Eiszeit, Die Hölle muss warten, and the music video for Willkommen im Nichts. Small clips of performances have been used on third party DVD's or uploaded online by the band or its members.

Audio recordings from the DVD have been used on the Volle Kraft voraus single and promo single, as well as the Ewiges Eis compilation. Some third party releases also include audio from the DVD.

Promotion

On 30 March 2015, an image was posted to the official Eisbrecher Facebook  with a DVD recording notice, a date of the concert, and a date that would reveal more info, 13 April 2015.

On 13 April 2015, the location of the concert was announced on the official Eisbrecher Facebook . It was to be the Circus Krone in Munich and the ticket prices for the event were also shown.

On 24 May 2015, the official DVD artwork was used for the first time in promoting a ticket giveaway for the show. The promotion was on the official Eisbrecher Facebook .

On 2 July 2015, in a comment left on a post to the official Eisbrecher Facebook , Eisbrecher confirmed a planned release date of 25 September 2015.

On 29 August 2015, a special cinema premiere was announced for the DVD for 15 September 2015, in Munich. Photos of the premiere can be found here .

Touredition 2016

In February 2016, the band announced through the official Eisbrecher Facebook  that there would be a special release ahead of the Volle Kraft voraus Tour. A 4 disc special "Touredition" of the Schock album. Including Schock, 2 CD's covering Schock Live, and a special bonus single containing Schwarzes Blut and Süßwasserfisch. With the bonus single, Volle Kraft voraus, also being available exclusively at the merch booth of the tour. The Touredition released on the start date of the tour, 11 March 2016. Some streaming services only have the Touredition as their respective audio upload of Schock Live.

Bandtherapeut Dr. Dietz (Warm Up): Opening act for the show, a live comedy performance from theatre director Heiko Dietz. The "band's therapist" is a character from the Zwischen uns music video and is referenced during the concert.

Der Flieger (Soundcheck): Soundcheck performance of the track Der Flieger. Was not performed live on the actual show.
