Eiszeit is the 4th studio album by Eisbrecher. It was released on 16 April 2010.
Production
Production of the album began at the end of 2008, after the first leg of the Sünde Tour.
The song Eiszeit was the first track that was chosen to be on the album after it was written by Henning Verlage and Matthias Barwig.
On old versions of Noel Pix's website, such as this snapshot , Eisbrecher album 4 and a song with Lacrimos Profundere lead vocalist Roberto Vittaca titled "Please Kill Me" were separated as projects Noel was working on at the time. In an interview with laut.de , Alex stated that the song was done between Pix and Roberto alone until the song was played to Alex and he wanted it on the next album, which then transformed it into a duet.
Promotion
The first known mention of work being done on the next Eisbrecher album came in an interview with Gaesteliste.tv that was conducted backstage at the 2008 Unheilig and friends concert. The interviewer made note that the next album was already in production.
At a 2009 concert in Hereford, Germany, in an interview with Terrorverlag , Alex stated that Noel has already commented about 1 or 2 songs sounding like hits.
On 10 July 2009, Eisbrecher made the first comment on the official Eisbrecher website about the album being in production. The post mentioned a release window for spring 2010.
On 25 July 2009, in an interview with Artnoir , Alex stated that the band was midway through production of the album, with music being mostly the focus and not too much lyrical content at this point, and it would be finished by October. He went on to state that it would receive a release in January with a tour in February/March.
On 11 September 2009, Eisbrecher announced a 2010 tour for April with an announcement on the official Eisbrecher website . No name was given to the album but the term "Eiszeit" was used in the announcement message.
On 1 January 2010, in a Happy New Year message from Eisbrecher to their fans on the official Eisbrecher website , a release window of mid April was given for the album.
The first known mention of "Eiszeit" being the album title came in a post on the official Eisbrecher Facebook on 5 February 2010. The post stated that the final vocal pieces were being recorded for the album.
On 9 February 2010, on the official Eisbrecher Facebook , the band stated that they would be releasing a limited edition of the album in a big box, and were taking suggestions for its contents.
On 11 February 2010, AFM Records published the official press release for the upcoming album "Eiszeit". It contained a release date of 16 April 2010 as well as mention of its first single "Segne deinen Schmerz" with its release date of 19 March 2010.
On 17 February 2010. a post on the official Eisbrecher Facebook announced that the single will no longer be for the song Segne deinein Schmerz, but rather the title track of the album, "Eiszeit". This is why the single contains a remix for Segne deinein Schmerz and not the track Eiszeit itself.
On 18 February 2010, in a post on the official Eisbrecher Facebook , the band announced that the single was mastered on the weekend prior and that Alex had played the song to a club early during a DJ set in Munich.
On 22 February 2010, in a post on the official Eisbrecer Facebook , it was stated that the album was currently being mixed by Noel Pix and Henning Verlage in Osnabrück, while the single artwork and photos were being done elsewhere.
On 25 February 2010, in a post on the official Eisbrecher Facebook , the mixing process was suggested to end in "the next few days".
The tracklist for the album and its limited editions were done over several days in March on the official Eisbrecher Facebook. These posts were:
9 March 2010: CD release
11 March 2010: Digipak release
13 March 2010: Limited box set release
On 27 March 2010, snippets of the songs Böse Mädchen and Eiszeit were posted to the official Eisbrecher Facebook.

Other songs
In an interview with laut.de , the interviewer mentioned his surprise that Alex did not devote a song on the album to his father who had recently passed away, despite the album being dedicated to him. Alex confirmed that something was partially worked on in the studio that was a form of goodbye but it was never finished as it was not the right time or feeling. It's unknown if anything of that track carried over into future songs.
A writer at Necroweb was invited to the A Life Divided studio to hear tracks from the upcoming album The Great Escape in September of 2012. In a studio report of the visit, the writer listened to the track Clouds of Glass and wrote that the song was written 4-5 years prior to its inclusion on the album, in German, for Eisbrecher. The track did not work out but made its way onto the A Life Divided album regardless in English in a more A Life Divided style. Nothing else is known about the orginal version of the song but due to the writing years of the track it could have potentially been released on either Eiszeit or Sünde.
