Production

In an interview with mindbreed.de , Alexander Wesselsky stated that the idea for "This is Deutsch" had been around since the first album production, but it only truly came to life for Sünde.

In an interview with Reflections of Darkness in 2007, Alex mentioned a planned EP at the end of the year containing some video material and some songs. It is not known if any of the songs would have been new, and if so, if they were later included on Sünde, as the EP would not be released.

Promotion

The first known mention of a new album came in an interview with Reflections of Darkness . In the interview, Alex mentioned that after work on an (previously mentioned) unreleased EP, the band would focus on making "Eisbrecher album 3". He would also suggest a release window of February/March 2008.

On 19 July 2007, on the official Eisbrecher website , the band stated that they would officially be entering the studio after the 20 August 2007 concert in Munich, with a small break for the Halloween season and Halloween concert.

On 26 September 2007, on the official Eisbrecher website , the band confirmed that they were working full speed ahead on album 3, and offered an official release window of Spring 2008.

On 14 March 2008, a post on the official Eisbrecher website looking for street crew volunteers mentioned a potential live DVD as well as a release window of August 2008 for the, then upcoming, album 3. A supporting tour in September was also announced, with no further info other than confirming its existence.

On 21 April 2008, the official "Blut und Tränen tour" would be announced alongside its dates and locations on the official Eisbrecher website . This hinted at something related to the album being named Blut und Tränen, though nothing would be confirmed in the post.

On 16 May 2008, through the official Eisbrecher website , the final title for the album would be announced to be Sünde with production (Pre-mastering) coming to an end and the following tour being renamed to the Sünde Tour. A single to be released in July was also mentioned. In the post, the naming of the album was noted to be "a small change". It is unknown if the band had plans to name the album "Blut und Tränen" originally or if it was simply a title for the tour.

On 3 June 2008, a release date of 22 August 2008 and naming of the single Kann denn Liebe Sünde sein? with its release date were posted to the official Eisbrecher website .

On 8 July 2008, it was announced on the official Eisbrecher website that the album had finished production and the tracks had been sent off to be pressed and artwork was in its final stages.

2 song snippets were uploaded to the bands MySpace prior to release, these snippets were for the songs:

5 August 2008: Die durch die Hölle gehen

14 August 2008: Heilig

Eisbrecher Podcast

During the production and promotion of Sünde, 5 episodes of a podcast were uploaded online for users to watch. These snippets would show some of the behind-the-scenes process of recording, touring, and performing. These podcast episodes are documented below:

Part 1 : Behind the scenes recording footage of Herzdieb.  (17 July 2008)

Part 2 : Behind the scenes recording footage of Alkohol. (3 August 2008)

Part 3 : Behind the scenes footage of a photo shoot of the band featuring real snakes. (13 August 2008)

Part 4 : Behind the scenes footage of a weekend in the tour life of Eisbrecher. Recordings from Rockharz 2008 and Amphi Festival 2008. (25 August 2008 )

Part 5 : An on stage, unplugged performance of Herzdieb and Ti Amo at the Sünde release party in Munich. (Wiki note: The podcast was named "part 1". However, a second part was not released.)  (23 September 2008)

Unreleased videos/singles

On the official Wikipedia page for Eisbrecher , a user in 2011 made a note that the songs Kann denn Liebe Sünde sein? and This is Deutsch were planned to receive music videos, but there was a preference of creating new material instead. The comment has no source to support, but in a post to the official Eisbrecher website on 8 July 2008, the band mentioned that a video clip would still need to be worked on for the album, making the claim of more videos to be accurate. The information could potentially have been posted to the official Eisbrecher forums, however, these forums and their contents were deleted many years ago.

Other songs

A writer at Necroweb was invited to the A Life Divided studio to hear tracks from the upcoming album The Great Escape in September of 2012. In a studio report of the visit, the writer listened to the track Clouds of Glass and wrote that the song was written 4-5 years prior to its inclusion on the album, in German, for Eisbrecher. The track did not work out but made its way onto the A Life Divided album regardless in English in a more A Life Divided style. Nothing else is known about the original version of the song but due to the writing years of the track it could have potentially been released on either Sünde or Eiszeit.
