Alexander Wesselsky, also known as Alexx von Weygand, was born on 18 November 1968 in the city of Augsburg, Germany.

Early life

As an infant, Alex's father left his family and Alex was raised only by his mother, Berti, until his step-father, Hans Wesselsky, stepped in to his life and helped raise Alex. Alex holds his step-father as a source of motivation and has claimed on occassion that there would likely be no Eisbrecher without his support. The album Eiszeit was dedicated to him upon his passing in 2009.   

Wesselsky attended primary school in Eichenau, Upper Bavaria, and transferred to the Viscardi-Gymnasium Fürstenfeldbruck in 1979. While working, he completed an educational course at the Bavarian Academy for Advertising and Marketing (BAW) with a degree in media marketing specialist (BAW) and then studied humanities (history, English studies, German studies, media studies) with a masters degree in philosophy. 

At the age of 7, Alex would pick up a guitar for the very first time. And in 1985, at the age of 17, he would purchase his very first electric bass in order to attract girls, and performs in his first musical project. "Silent Cry".  

Throughout the 1980's, Alex would gain a significant amount of sporting injuries in his developing years. In 1990, Alex would begin loving American football, and join the forest and meadows club "Eichenau Vipers". Throughout Alex's football career, he would receive offers at home and abroad for clubs in the game, moving up in the ranks of American football. After entering the Bayernliga, Alex decided to focus his efforts on his music career. 

In 1985, Alex would start his first proper band, singing and playing bass for "Dale Arden", named after the love interest of Flash Gordon. Only demo's would be recorded for the band but no release was ever made.

In 1989, Alex would join the Rock Feierwerk competition with his band "Bad Hoven". The band would be declared one of the winners and 2 songs would be released on the Rock Feierwerk Sieger '89 album, Blood + Honour and Bad Boys Boogie. This would be Alex's first official release from a musical project.

In the early 90's, Alex would join the band Used Underwear and the band Xanda. Xanda would be the first band that used German text in Alex's line up. [4]

Megaherz

In 1993, Alex would find the band Megaherz alongside Marc Bredtmann, Josef Kalleder, Tobias Trinkl. and Christian Scharinger. In 1994, the band would create a demotape, titled Sexodus and would release their first demo album, Herzwerk, in January of 1995.

Eisbrecher

On 19 April 2002, Alex attended an "orchestra Bürger Kreitmeier" concert in Munich. At this concert, Alex would bump into former bandmate Noel Pix. After some discussion between both men, their issues were set aside and they moved on in life as friends. In July of 2002, Noel approached Alex with a demo for the song Schwarze Witwe. Alex enjoyed the demo and wanted to add vocals to it. Leading into the creation of Eisbrecher.

Die Herren Wesselsky

In 2013, Alex would announce a solo project named Wesselsky. The project would play old Megaherz tracks with a new line up. The project was inspired by Dave Grohl's "Sound City".

Acting and hosting

At the age of 18-19, Alex featured as an extra on the TV Show "Derrick".

In 1998, Alex would perform in Heiko Dietz's theater rendition of Sartre's "Closed Society".

In 2003, Alex would also return to the stage under Heiko Dietz for the show "wehr.krieg.macht". The show would last for 4 weeks, with 4 shows a week.

In 2004, Alex would perform on stage for the last time in Heiko Dietz's "Trumpets of Jesolo".

In 2006, Alex would perform his first television hosting job in "Der Checker". Alex would host from 2006 to 2010.

In 2009, Alex hosted a reality TV show by the name of "Schrauber-Showdown".

In 2011, Alex would host the show "Fort Boyard". Alex would only host the fourth season.

In 2011, Alex would host "Auto gebraucht". Only 2 episodes were made.

In 2013, Alex would host "Auftrag Auto". Alex would host for two seasons.

In 2016, Alex would perform live with Peter Maffay on his Es lebe die Freundschaft Tour.

In 2017, Alex would host "Goldtimer". He would only do one season.

In 2023, Alex hosted a one off event where he would read Eisbrecher and Megaherz lyrics and texts at Heiko Dietz's theater titled "Megabrecher".

In 2024, Alex would star in an episode of "Hubert ohne Staller". "Die Kunst des Einbrechens".
