Early life

Achim's inspiration for starting music was the "Super Clean Dream Machine" show on Radio Hilversum hosted by Ad Visser. Achim would play precussion on every day objects for his own amusement.

At the age of 13/14, Achim met a boy his age at a bus stop who knew how to play the acoustic guitar. and not so long after, Achim's father bought Achim his first drum set. The first time he would play the drums was during the first band rehersals, which were recorded on cassette, which Achim is still in posession of.

Professional work

Achim would play in small, local bands up until 1983, when he would join his first proper touring project "Surplus Stock". Achim would move to Bremen, Germany in 1986 and would perform in various bands in the region as well as writing theatre music in 1990. At some point in this time period, Achim, as a conscientious objector to his conscription, would serve his compulsory community service assisting Lebenshilfe Bremen, an organisation that aims to assist in assisted living for those with and without disabilities, young people, and families. After Achim had completed his service, he stayed with the organisation for an undisclosed amount of time. His first proffesional job would come in 1992, working with Phillip Boa, who he would then tour with.

At the end of 2011, Achim would start his own musical project, titled "Automat".

Achim's career has spanned decades, working with major artists such as Joachim Witt, Die Krupps, Project Pitchfork, Peter Heppner, and so much more. Achim has also contributed towards radio plays, movie scores, and live concerts all over the world.
