Information

On 24 May 2021, the Schicksalsmelodien version of the track Stoßgebet was removed from most streaming services and the single was re-released. No official reasoning was given for the removal. The music video had also received heavily restricted country access on YouTube . In February 2024, the music video had been deleted. The track is still available on physical copies of the album.

Production

During production of the song Stoßgebet, Alexander Wesselsky and Noel Pix were intrigued to keep going on with re-imagining old tracks into the Eisbrecher sound. Before long, the band were working on both Schicksalsmelodien and Liebe Macht Monster simultaneously.

Liebe Macht Monster was finalised in March of 2020 with a planned release date of October 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the band decided that it would be best to release the album at a more secure time for a tour to follow. This in turn rushed the creation of Schicksalsmelodien which would have originally come after, giving Noel 2-3 weeks rest before starting production.

The frequently covered live track Tränen lügen nicht  was considered for the album, however, Noel thought that the track was a bit too silly of a choice for the album and it would not be made. The track would be recorded and released on the album Kaltfront°! .

Promotion

In the 08/2020 issue of Orkus magazine, Alex was interviewed about the recent single Stoßgebet. In the interview, Alex was asked about what music covers he found particularly good. He stated that he enjoyed Eisbrecher's cover of Rheingold's Das steht dir gut but also Extrabeit's cover of Hans Albers' "Fliegerlied" (Which Eisbrecher would go on to cover as well). Alex also said that maybe Eisbrecher should make an album of covers of their personal super favourites. At this time, behind the scenes, the cover album was already in production.

On 3 July 2020, a video was uploaded to Eisbrecher social media channels, announcing that another album, on top of the publicly known album 8, was also in production. A release month was given and a title, "Schicksalsmelodien". The fact that the album was purely covers was not mentioned yet.

Alex made numerous social media posts during the creation of Schicksalsmelodien, these are listed below:
9 July 2020: Instagram post
10 August 2020: Instagram post
24 August 2020: Instagram post

On 25 August 2020, a studio report was posted to the official Eisbrecher Facebook . The post used some studio footage of the band working on the album, and the caption explained that the album would be a full cover album. The video featured an instrumental snippet of Anna lassmichrein lassmichraus.

On 28 August 2020, a second studio report was posted to the official Eisbrecher Facebook . It had no caption and was similar to report 1. However, the snippet included lyrics this time. Allowing some fans to guess the chosen cover.

On 29 and 31 August 2020, snippets of the instrumental of All We Are were uploaded to the official Eisbrecher Instagram in a video where Alex throws out fake answers to name the song and asked fans to try and guess which song would be covered:
Name that song part 1 .
Name that song part 2 .

Some of the albums tracks were released alongside solo portraits of each band member, excluding Rupert Keplinger :
Alexander Wesselsky: All We Are = 6 September 2020 .
Noel Pix: Anna lassmichrein lassmichraus = 9 September 2020 .
Jürgen Plangger: Skandal im Sperrbezirk = 14 September 2020 .
Achim Färber: Disco in Moskau = 17 September 2020 .
The track Out of the Dark was also revealed on the Jürgen post. This was most likely a mistake.

On 18 September 2020, the band revealed the full tracklist in a post on the official Eisbrecher Instagram . Alongside the tracklist, the cover art, limited edition fan box, and merch bundles were revealed.

On 20 September 2020, a behind-the-scenes video of the photoshoot for the album was uploaded to the official Eisbrecher Facebook .

Starting on 12 October 2020, the band uploaded snippets of the new tracks that weren't yet released as singles on the build-up to the album, with the final snippet releasing on 22 October 2020. Songs that did not receive snippets were the 3 previously released covers, and the original instrumental Schicksal.

On 23 October 2020, Rupert uploaded a snippet of him recording the guitar solo in All We Are to his personal Facebook profile .
